Korean Association in Los Angeles, USA Visits Pohang Cheolgilsup for On-site Tour
In March, Mongolian Missionary Delegation and Others Conducted Benchmarking Tour Domestically and Abroad
The ‘Pohang Cheolgilsup,’ a core project of the Pohang Greenway policy, has received prestigious domestic and international awards, including the 2022 Asia Urban Landscape Award and certification as an exemplary urban forest in South Korea, leading to continuous visits from both domestic and international study tours.

On the 14th, 18 members of the Korean Association in the Los Angeles area, USA, visited Pohang Cheolgilsup to conduct an on-site tour of the railway idle land that has become a comfortable leisure space for citizens.
The visiting group, guided by Pohang city officials, walked together from Hyoja Church to Hanteo Madang, the key project section, exchanging opinions on the process of transforming the urban railway land into a forest trail that harmonizes nature, culture, and people, as well as the resulting socio-economic ripple effects.
Having lived as immigrants in foreign countries for a long time, they unanimously expressed that they enjoyed the autumn by smelling the silver grass and the scent of mokseo in the Cheolgilsup, which evoked nostalgia.
In March, a Mongolian missionary delegation visited Pohang Cheolgilsup, focusing on successful creation methods and detailed management cases, seeking ways applicable to Mongolia.
Since its establishment in 2009 as a 9.3 km park stretching north to south from Uhyeon-dong to Yeonil-eup Yugang-ri, Pohang Cheolgilsup has been visited by over 8,500 people from 120 institutions and organizations.
A Pohang city official said, “As interest from many foreign countries in Pohang Cheolgilsup, which promotes urban regeneration, pours in, visits continue. Recently, the Sangsaeng Forest Trail pedestrian bridge connecting Cheolgilsup to the Hyeongsan River area was completed, and it is expected to further spread citizens’ health improvement and walking culture.”
