‘Together to the Embrace of Daegaya’ … Goryeong-gun, Regional Culture Experience Tour

The Multicultural Family Center of Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk, conducted a local cultural experience and exploration event on the 22nd for 16 foreign workers and their families selected for the Ministry of Justice's 'Regional Specialized Visa Pilot Project.'

‘Together to the Embrace of Daegaya’ … Goryeong-gun, Regional Culture Experience Tour Goryeong-gun Multicultural Family Center conducted a regional cultural experience tour.

The Regional Specialized Visa Pilot Project is a program that offers visa extension benefits to foreigners recommended by local government heads who reside and work for a certain period in depopulated areas, aiming to respond to population decline and revitalize the local economy.


During the event, participants experienced pottery making, including pottery wheel work and decorating pottery, at the Daegaya History Theme Tourism Site, and visited the Goryeong Jisandong Tumuli, recently registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site, to learn about the history of Daegaya culture.


County Governor Lee Nam-chul said, “We sincerely welcome the participants of the Regional Specialized Visa Pilot Project who decided to migrate to Goryeong-gun from distant foreign countries,” adding, “We will strive to help them settle long-term and feel a sense of belonging as members of our local community, and we will continue to work on policies to attract foreigners to address labor shortages and population decline.”
