Gyeongnam Police Agency Conducts Search and Seizure at Hapcheon County Office Over Video Theme Park Project Fund 'Muk-twi' Case

The Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency's Metropolitan Investigation Unit conducted a search and seizure at Hapcheon County Office on the 24th in connection with the Hapcheon County Video Theme Park accommodation facility development project.

According to the provincial police agency, the search and seizure were carried out in relation to the so-called "Theme Park Accommodation Facility Development Project Operator's 25 billion KRW embezzlement case."

The provincial police agency executed the search and seizure to secure evidence proving the charges against three individuals, including two current public officials and one former public official, who were booked on suspicion of collusion with the private business operator of the project.

The search and seizure reportedly took place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., targeting two related offices within the county office and the residence of the former public official.

The Hapcheon Video Theme Park accommodation facility development project involves constructing a hotel with 200 rooms and a total area of 7,336㎡ on a 1,607㎡ site within the theme park.

According to the agreement, the operator invested 4 billion KRW, and the remaining 55 billion KRW was financed through real estate project financing (PF). However, the actual representative of the operator absconded with 25 billion KRW of the project funds, and allegations of breach of trust and embezzlement by related parties surfaced, causing the project to halt.

Following a complaint from Hapcheon County, the police investigating the case previously arrested the actual representative A, the nominal representative, the vice president, and other related parties, and booked three current and former public officials.
