Guro-gu Overseas Market Development Team to Participate in Dubai 'GITEX Global 2023' from October 16 to 20... Expanding Overseas Market Channels for Local Companies and Benchmarking Latest Technologies through GITEX Participation
The Guro District (District Mayor Moon Heon-il) overseas market development team participated in the information and communication exhibition ‘GITEX GLOBAL 2023’ held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from the 16th to the 20th.
On the 24th, Guro announced that it formed an overseas market development team to help local ICT companies pioneer overseas markets and benchmark the latest technologies to enhance corporate competitiveness, and participated in GITEX GLOBAL.
GITEX GLOBAL is the largest ICT exhibition in the Middle East and Africa region and the most influential IT-related business platform among exhibitions held annually in the UAE.
In particular, this year recorded the largest scale ever, with over 6,000 companies from more than 170 countries and 170,000 trade buyers and participants.
The development team consisted of five companies selected through recruitment and screening in April this year (▲Seongmin Networks - hospital medical CRM, CTI development ▲MonitorLab - information security solutions ▲TO21Coms - wireless communication module development ▲Dongyang BMS - IoT & AI-based advanced building automation system ▲SR Technology - RF filter development), along with an escort team composed of District Mayor Moon Heon-il, district council members, and district office staff, carrying out the schedule.
The participating team operated the Guro District booth (Korea G-Valley) at the GITEX venue, conducting export marketing activities such as consultations and contracts with local investors and buyers.
This year’s Dubai GITEX GLOBAL, held on the largest scale ever, proceeded amid an intense atmosphere with no space to spare. Guro District participating companies achieved a total of 238 consultations worth $14.67 million and signed 3 MOUs. Some companies were invited by local buyers to negotiate terms, coordinate return visits, or received immediate sample orders and purchase requests, achieving visible and effective results.
The escort team led by Mayor Moon visited about 30 company booths, including the five Guro District G-VALLEY companies participating in GITEX GLOBAL, the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, the Korea Information and Communication Technology Industry Association, and companies participating through the Seoul Business Agency’s Seoul Investment Office, encouraging them and observing various new technologies and industry trends from different countries.
They met with officials from the Ministry of Science and ICT, Korea Information Technology Research Institute, and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency who visited the exhibition to exchange opinions on supporting companies’ overseas expansion. They also met with Moon Byung-jun, Consul General of Dubai, Yang Jin-mo, Head of KOTRA Middle East Headquarters and Trade Center, and Shin Min-cheol, President of the UAE Korean Association, urging active support for companies entering Dubai.
The Small and Medium Business Corporation inspected the Global Business Center (GBC) operating to help companies entering Dubai settle locally, and benchmarked by visiting traditional Arab markets modernized and created indoors such as Souk Al Bahar and Souk Madinat Jumeirah.
Guro District plans to continue monitoring participating companies after the exhibition and maximize exhibition outcomes by linking with the Small and Medium Business Corporation’s ‘GoBiz Service,’ which supports post-management of online purchase offers, online marketing support, and transaction mediation.
A Guro District official said, “We are pleased that our district’s companies achieved good results at GITEX,” and added, “We hope this opportunity will activate the entry of Guro District companies into the Middle East region.”
