Kakao has expanded its creator support model to Tistory.
Tistory, a blog service operated by Daum CIC under Kakao, announced on the 23rd that it has newly introduced the 'Cheer Up' model. Following its initial introduction on the content publishing platform 'Brunch Story' in August, it has now been expanded to Tistory as well.
'Cheer Up' is a direct creator support system where readers send support funds along with cheering comments on creators' posts. It aims to support creators' earnings and encourage the production of high-quality content. Support amounts can be selected from a minimum of 1,000 KRW to a maximum of 200,000 KRW. Comments from readers who have supported are pinned and displayed in the comment section. Creators can check the status of support and earnings reports in the 'Creator Settlement Center.'
Only 'Story Creators,' outstanding creators categorized by blog topics, can use the Cheer Up model. Story Creators are periodically selected by comprehensively evaluating creators active on Tistory and Brunch Story based on expertise, influence, credibility, and activity. Currently, there are about 5,000 Story Creators, and the number is continuously increasing.
Brunch Story has also expanded the application of Cheer Up to Story Creators. Previously, Brunch Story pre-released the Cheer Up model to about 50 representative authors of the service and supported readers to use Cheer Up on their regularly serialized works.
Jeon Ji-seon, head of the Story Business Office, said, "We have confirmed the potential for expanding the creator economy through the Cheer Up model," adding, "In addition to the Cheer Up and Story Creator systems, we will consider various ways to support creator activities and contribute to revitalizing the creative ecosystem."
