Approval of SKT's Proposal on 'AI Full-Stack Architecture and Interworking Standards' by ITU-T
SK Telecom announced on the 22nd that its proposed AI integrated package, "Structure and Interworking Specifications of the AI Full Stack," was finally approved as an ITU-T international standard at the ITU-T Study Group (SG) 11 meeting held in Geneva, Switzerland from the 16th to the 20th.
ITU-T is a specialized agency under the United Nations (UN) for international standardization of information and communication technologies, setting standards in the telecommunications field. Currently, about 900 members from approximately 190 member countries, including industry, academia, and research institutions, are active.
The newly approved standard specifies the essential technical components, structure, and interworking methods of the AI integrated package (AI Full Stack) submitted by SKT to ITU-T in December 2021. The AI-based research results led by SKT have been recognized as an international standard after circulation among ITU-T international member countries.
SKT classified and defined the essential technical elements of the AI Full Stack into four main modules: ▲ AI Processor ▲ AI Memory and Storage ▲ AI Learning and Model Optimization ▲ AI Applications. The architecture (structure), signaling methods, message specifications, and data types for interworking and optimization among these elements were standardized to enable different AI technology components to organically integrate with each other.
Building on this approval, SKT plans to proactively promote global standards for the AI service development process and expand the application of the AI Full Stack across various fields.
Previously, SKT applied AI Full Stack technology across diverse industries, including the newly enhanced pet medical AI service X Caliber, AI healthcare, AI semiconductors, AI media, and AI security. Going forward, this will serve as a technical foundation to lead service innovation and external cooperation linked to the "SKT AI Pyramid Strategy."
In this standard, AI processor technology performing AI data learning and inference operations, as well as memory and storage technology for storing and processing ultra-high-speed AI big data, will be utilized to strengthen AI infrastructure and the AIX structure within the pyramid strategy.
Additionally, AI application technology that interworks with various services and systems, and technology for generating and optimizing AI models tailored to industrial sectors, will be used for AI personal assistants (PAA), service innovation, and expanding external cooperation.
