CJ CheilJedang is launching new products: 'Bibigo Rice Tteokbokki' and two types of fried snacks (Gimmari and Squid Tempura). These new products are part of CJ CheilJedang's K-Street Food strategic lineup and will be introduced sequentially in major global markets following their domestic release.
In May, CJ CheilJedang selected six major products?tteokbokki, hot dogs, gimbap, gimmari, bungeoppang, and hotteok?as strategic items for K-Street Food. The strategy aims to nurture next-generation K-food under the 'Bibigo' brand and expand its global footprint as a new growth engine.
The ambient tteokbokki, chosen as the first Bibigo K-Street Food product, is currently exported to a total of 27 countries including the United States, Australia, Vietnam, and Singapore, and is sold mainly through local ethnic markets and online malls.
In March, three types of Bibigo frozen gimbap (ham & vegetable, bulgogi, kimchi cheese) were first introduced in Japan. They have been stocked in about 2,000 stores of major local mainstream distribution channels, including AEON, Japan’s largest supermarket chain, and have received positive responses from local consumers. To celebrate the launch of the new product 'Bibigo Tuna Mayo Gimbap,' a consumer promotion held last month at Costco Japan sold out the prepared stock early. The three types of 'Bibigo Bungeoppang,' pre-launched in August, also received great feedback from domestic consumers, and plans are underway to introduce them soon in major global markets.
These three new products also incorporate CJ CheilJedang’s differentiated technology aimed at overseas export. The 'Bibigo Rice Tteokbokki,' scheduled for export within the year, features chewy and soft rice cakes that do not require soaking in water, and a secret seasoning made with CJ CheilJedang’s self-developed vegan dashida and Taste Enrich, delivering the spicy and sweet flavor favored by Koreans.
The two types of Bibigo fried snacks (Gimmari and Squid Tempura), perfect as side dishes for tteokbokki, apply the directly developed 'Better Mix' technology, which ensures the crispy batter remains crunchy without becoming soggy over time.
