The National Assembly press conference was attended by members of the National Assembly Shin Jeong-hoon, So Byung-chul, Kim Hoe-jae, Kim Seung-nam, Kim Won-i; Seo Dong-wook, Chairperson of the Jeollanam-do Council; Shin Min-ho and Choi Seon-guk, co-chairpersons of the Jeollanam-do Medical School Attraction Countermeasures Committee; Provincial Assembly member Kim Jin-nam; Kang Pil-gu, Chairperson of the Jeollanam-do City and County Council Chairpersons Association; Moon Cha-bok, Chairperson of the Mokpo City Council; Song Ha-cheol, President of Mokpo National University; and Jeong Byeong-hoe, Chairperson of the Suncheon City Council along with council members, appealing the 30-year aspiration of residents and citizens of Suncheon.

The Yongsan rally was organized to condemn the recent government policy that emphasizes only increasing the quota of existing medical schools rather than establishing new ones. About 500 people, including members of the Jeollanam-do Council, Suncheon City Council, and Suncheon National University, conveyed the necessity and urgency of establishing a new medical school.

The council members who attended the rally conducted public relations activities appealing the reality that Jeollanam-do is the only metropolitan local government without a medical school and the need to guarantee medical survival rights. They urged the establishment of institutional measures to prevent the collapse of essential local medical and public healthcare systems.

Chairperson Jeong Byeong-hoe stated, "To improve medical conditions in medically vulnerable areas, the discussion on expanding medical school quotas by the government must include the establishment of new medical schools." He added, "Since establishing new medical schools is the most urgent and important matter for expanding stable public medical infrastructure, we will make every effort to prepare institutional support."
