The Japanese Archipelago Enchanted by the 'Beautiful Princess'... "Mako Left, Kako Arrived"

Attending the Kagoshima Prefecture Sports Festival in Japan draws attention
Nationwide interest also focuses on Princess Gako's wedding

Interest among the Japanese public is growing in Princess Kako, the niece of Emperor Naruhito and the second daughter of Crown Prince Fumihito.

This is because, in the Japanese Imperial Family without Princess Mako (眞子), who defied opposition in 2020 to marry a commoner and thus became a commoner herself, Princess Kako has been frequently appearing at official events, increasing her presence.

On the 18th, the Asahi Shimbun published an article about Princess Kako attending the National Sports Festival held on the 17th in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan, along with about 20 photos of her wearing a blue dress.

Not only Asahi Shimbun but also ANN News reported the news, describing Princess Kako’s appearance as "impressive, as she applauded several times while watching the track and field events." ANN News further explained the situation at the time, saying, "Princess Kako visited the Kagoshima area on a two-day schedule and received enthusiastic cheers from local residents, with one-fifth of the population coming out to support her."

NHK also reported, "While Princess Kako was staying in the Kagoshima area to attend the National Sports Festival, she inspected a special support school in the region," adding, "She observed and participated in a caf? practical training class," covering every move of the princess.

Princess Kako is scheduled to visit South America next month starting from the 1st to attend official events commemorating the 150th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Peru.

Known as a "beautiful princess" to the Japanese people, Princess Kako has attracted media and public attention not only for her lovely appearance but also for her approachable image, such as showing interest in dance, unlike Princess Mako who became a commoner and moved to the United States.

In particular, nationwide interest is focused on Princess Kako’s marriage. Some expect that after Princess Aiko, Emperor Naruhito’s only daughter, finishes her studies and her younger brother Hisahito reaches adulthood in two years, discussions about marriage will naturally arise.

Meanwhile, Princess Kako has faced criticism for living in a government facility remodeled this year with tax money, being accused of "wasting taxpayers’ money." However, ANN News reported that there is no disagreement within Japan about the fact that Princess Kako is performing official duties as a young member of the Imperial Family.
