Hwasun-gun, Disaster Relief Fund and Special Consolation Payment Provided

Farmers Affected by Heavy Rainfall and Typhoon Khanun in June-July

Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 18th that it plans to establish a budget of approximately 500 million KRW to provide disaster relief funds and special consolation payments to farmers who suffered crop damage due to the heavy rains and Typhoon Khanun in June and July, in order to stabilize their livelihoods.

The recipients are farmers who reported and registered crop damage caused by the heavy rains in June and July and Typhoon Khanun (Typhoon No. 6) in the NDMS (National Disaster Management System).

For disaster indices of 300 or higher, funds will be provided from national, provincial, and county budgets; for indices between 100 and less than 300, funds will be fully covered by the county budget. A total of 627 farms are expected to receive 557,091,000 KRW.

However, farms with a disaster index below 100 or those whose main livelihood income exceeds the household expenditure per agricultural household member announced by Statistics Korea for 2022, as verified through earned income, will be excluded from the payment.

In particular, this year, in addition to the basic disaster relief funds, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs has allocated special consolation payments, which will be additionally provided to the eligible farms.

A county official stated, “Since the decision to provide these disaster relief funds and special consolation payments was made somewhat late, we will promptly execute the budget by establishing it before the budget approval and by allocating contingency funds. We will also actively work to minimize the damage to farmers caused by this disaster by relaxing the execution standards for various agriculture-related projects.”
