Leading the Introduction of Local Aerospace Defense Companies
Park Dong-sik, mayor of Sacheon City in Gyeongnam Province, carried out aggressive promotional marketing to support local aerospace industry companies in pioneering overseas markets and expanding sales channels.
From October 17 to 22, Mayor Park participated in ‘Seoul ADEX 2023’ held at Seoul Airport, meeting and visiting domestic and international aerospace system companies while actively introducing local aerospace defense companies.
He also supported export consultations and B TO B meetings between overseas companies and local space and aerospace companies, as well as created opportunities for communication to strengthen networks.
In particular, he encouraged local aerospace companies by promising support such as global marketing assistance, support for aerospace parts suppliers, operation of the Gyeongnam Aerospace Industry Support Group, aerospace quality certification support, and export consultation meetings.
On the first day of Seoul ADEX 2023, October 17, Mayor Park met with Saab, Hanwha Aerospace, Safran, and Northrop Grumman, and visited the BAE Systems booth.
In the evening, he held a dinner with companies participating in the Sacheon City promotional pavilion to encourage local space and aerospace companies and provide a networking opportunity.
On the second day, October 18, he met with Airbus, the Canadian delegation, and Embraer, and toured the KAI and RTX booths.
The Canadian delegation visited the Sacheon City promotional pavilion and requested local aerospace companies to participate in Aeromart Montreal. The Embassy of Canada in Korea had previously attended the Sacheon City export consultation event in 2022.
At the Sacheon City promotional pavilion, a technical and parts supply partnership MOU was signed between Korea Aerospace Maintenance & Engineering Services (KAEMS) and the U.S. aircraft parts maintenance and supply specialist S3 for maintenance and upgrade of air turbine starter (ATS) parts.
Mayor Park said, “Sacheon City accounts for about 48% of domestic aerospace industry production and 41% of employment, establishing a solid infrastructure and ecosystem,” and added, “I hope cooperation between Sacheon City and system companies in the space and aerospace sectors can be strengthened.”
He further stated, “To realize the opening of the Space Agency, we plan to create an aerospace complex city and build a Satellite Development Innovation Center.”
