Apple has unveiled a new 'Apple Pencil' for the first time in five years. Like the recently released iPhone 15 series, it features a USB-C port for enhanced convenience, and its price is about 40% lower than its predecessor.
Apple announced the Apple Pencil on the 17th (local time). Priced at 119,000 KRW, it is approximately 40% cheaper than the previous Apple Pencil 2nd generation (195,000 KRW). It is scheduled to be released in some countries starting early next month.
The new Apple Pencil retains pixel-level precision, low latency, and tilt detection like its predecessor. It can be used for writing, sketching, annotating, and journaling. With a matte finish and flat-sided design, it is designed to attach magnetically to the iPad for storage. However, it does not offer features such as pressure sensitivity, wireless pairing and charging, or double-tap tool switching that were available in the previous model.
The most notable feature of the newly released Apple Pencil is the inclusion of a USB-C port, similar to the iPhone 15. Users can connect the Apple Pencil via a USB-C cable for pairing and charging. It is compatible with all iPads equipped with USB-C ports, including iPad Pro 12.9 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th generations; iPad Pro 11 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th generations; iPad Air 4th and 5th generations; iPad 10th generation; and iPad mini 6th generation.
