Korea Racing Authority’s LetsRun Park Busan-Gyeongnam participated in a medical volunteer activity organized by Busan On General Hospital on the 14th, conducting a social contribution activity called ‘Horse Therapy.’
The volunteer activity held in Hyangchon Village, Nam-myeon, Namhae-gun, Gyeongnam, involved Ha Hong-min, head of the Busan Racing Resources Management Department at LetsRun Park Busan-Gyeongnam, and about 10 KRA employees, along with around 60 medical staff including Director Kim Dong-heon and Chairman Jeong Geun from Busan On General Hospital.
During this volunteer activity, LetsRun Park conducted ‘Horse Therapy’ accompanied by four horses, including the popular mini horse ‘Bau,’ and professional riding instructors.
‘Horse Therapy’ refers to a method where humans and horses interact emotionally, using the psychological stability and stress relief experienced during this process for therapeutic purposes.
Residents of Hyangchon Village in Namhae experienced horseback riding under the guidance of riding instructors and enjoyed healing time by walking along the path leading to the harbor with the horses. A veterinarian staff member from KRA also provided simple medical care such as disease prevention and feeding management guidance for the village livestock.

Ha Hong-min, head of LetsRun Park Busan-Gyeongnam, said, “It was not an easy decision to travel a long distance with four horses, but seeing the joyful elders makes me feel the reward and happiness of volunteering,” adding, “As a specialized public enterprise in the horse industry, KRA will take the lead in realizing social value based on the resources and knowledge it possesses.”
This year, KRA conducted a total of 12 Horse Therapy social contribution projects in the first half of the year targeting patients at hospitals located in Busan and Gyeongnam, including On General Hospital.
In the second half of the year, KRA plans to discover business models through Horse Therapy demonstrations and expand the project by exchanging and cooperating with private and public riding facilities in the region.
