Hanpass Enables 'QR Payment' with UnionPay Mobile Card

Hanpass has launched a QR payment service through its app at UnionPay online and offline merchants worldwide.

The usage method involves generating a QR code after issuing a card without receiving a separate plastic card through the Hanpass app, and then making payments by changing settings for Mainland China or outside Mainland China. It supports both payment methods: scanning the QR code generated by the app at the merchant (CPM, Customer Presented Mode) and scanning the QR code displayed at the store with the camera lens (MPM, Merchant Presented Mode).

Moreover, Hanpass is running a cashback event until October 20, offering 10,000 KRW for overseas payments regardless of the payment amount. Each person can participate once during the event period.

The Hanpass Triple Card, which has recently attracted attention from overseas travelers, is a prepaid card that can be charged with Korean won and used immediately locally without the hassle of currency exchange during travel preparation.

In the case of prepaid cards charged with foreign currency, when the charged foreign currency is exhausted, users must exchange currency again locally to recharge foreign currency. If there is a remaining balance, users face the inconvenience and hassle of either re-exchanging it back to Korean won or making unnecessary expenditures to use the remaining balance.

The main benefit of the Hanpass Triple Card is that it provides an immediate cashback of 3% of the overseas payment amount without any previous month’s spending conditions or limit restrictions, allowing users to enjoy greater benefits through cashback of 3% of the payment amount compared to the exemption of 1-2% overseas payment fees.

Additionally, it offers a free overseas ATM withdrawal fee benefit when cash is needed, providing useful benefits optimized for overseas travel.

Furthermore, a Hanpass official stated, “Understanding the needs of users who must depart urgently and find it difficult to wait for card issuance and delivery, we have opened an airport pickup service that allows users to apply by 4 PM and receive their card at the airport the following month. Based on customer needs and actual usage data, we plan to enhance various additional services such as overseas utility bill payments as well as payment services.”

The airport pickup service allows users to select airport pickup at the time of card issuance in the Hanpass APP, enabling pickup at the designated time in the departure hall of Terminal 1 at Incheon International Airport. Discount coupons usable at duty-free shops are also provided together.
