Jin Gyo-hoon, who took office on the 12th following the by-election for the Mayor of Gangseo District, Seoul, approved part of the ‘Gayang-dong CJ Factory Site Development’ as his first official decision. Accordingly, the CJ factory site development project, with a total budget of 4 trillion won, is expected to gain momentum and possibly begin construction as early as the first half of next year.

According to Gangseo District on the 16th, Mayor Jin approved the ‘partial development permit for the Gayang-dong CJ factory site’ as his first official decision on the 13th, demonstrating his commitment to revitalizing the local economy.

The ‘CJ Factory Site Development’ project had been halted after former Mayor Kim Tae-woo, who lost in the recent election, abruptly canceled the building agreement approval during his tenure. In contrast, Mayor Jin made “actively supporting the Gayang CJ site development and establishing cooperative measures for coexistence with the local commercial district” a key campaign pledge and chose it as his first official agenda.

The CJ factory site development is a major local issue involving the creation of office, retail, and knowledge industry centers on a 93,686㎡ site near Yangcheon Hyanggyo Station on Subway Line 9. The approval Mayor Jin granted this time covers development permits for two of the three blocks (27,983㎡) of the CJ factory site.

Gangseo District stated that it will promptly proceed with the remaining procedures to accelerate the delayed CJ factory site development.
