Capturing the Image of Korean War Veterans
'Smith Peace Hall,' located in Oesammi-dong, Osan-si, Gyeonggi-do, is extending the exhibition of photographer Rami Hyun's (Korean name Hyun Hyoje) work ‘Project Soldier: In Search of UN War Veterans’ until December to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Korean War armistice.
This exhibition was planned to express respect and gratitude to the UN war veterans from various countries who participated in the Korean War and to remember their sacrifice and dedication.
In this special exhibition, visitors can see Rami Hyun’s works capturing the stories and images of UN war veterans from around the world who fought in the Korean War.
Photographer Rami Hyun gained attention for delivering photo frames to the veterans with the implicit message, "The cost of the frame was already paid over 70 years ago," expressing his gratitude.
The area around Oesammi-dong, where Smith Peace Hall is located, was also the site of the first ground battle between UN forces and North Korean troops on July 5, 1950, during the Korean War.
Admission is free, and the hall is closed every Monday.
