Solving Entrance Exam Students' Worries!... Gangbuk-gu 'Career and College Admission Fair' Held

Seoul Gangbuk-gu (District Mayor Lee Soon-hee) announced on the 16th that it will hold the '2023 Gangbuk Career and College Admission Fair: Dream ChatGo, Future JobGo!' on November 4 to help local students and parents resolve their concerns about career paths and college admissions.

The Gangbuk Career and College Admission Fair, held for the first time this year, is an event organized by the district to provide high-quality career and college admission information through career and job experience booths, university department mentoring, and admission briefings. The event will be held simultaneously by theme at the Gangbuk-gu Office Plaza, the main auditorium, and the planning situation room.

First, at the district office plaza, 15 booths will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to offer students various career experiences, including future promising jobs and 4th industrial revolution technology fields.

Experience booths for future promising jobs such as autonomous driving experts, biotechnology researchers, and smart farm IoT scientists, as well as 4th industrial revolution technology booths featuring robots, drones, and digital drawing, will provide opportunities for career exploration.

From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the district office plaza, students can receive counseling on university departments that are highly popular, such as nursing and education. Additionally, promotional booths for local high schools and counseling booths for students with disabilities will operate from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The 'Middle School Students History Golden Bell' will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the 4th-floor main auditorium of the district office. Club congratulatory performances supporting the students can also be enjoyed. Following this, the fair’s opening ceremony and a special lecture by a distinguished guest will take place from 2 p.m. EBSi English representative instructor and author of the book You Should Reduce Private Education for Your Mother, Jeong Seung-ik, will share insights on the success formula for college admissions in Korea and discuss fake studying versus real studying.

The college admission briefings will be held sequentially in the planning situation room on the 3rd floor of the district office according to the target audience. First, at 10 a.m., a high school briefing will be held where local high schools present their key distinctive activities. From 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., the high school admission briefing will feature a superintendent from the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education presenting the high school credit system and career and college admission planning methods. The university admission briefing, themed 'Understanding and Preparing for the 2025-2026 University Admission Process,' will be held from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The district plans to hold events such as participation in experience booths and SNS certification to stimulate youth interest and engagement during the fair.

Youth and parents who wish to participate in the special lecture, high school, high school admission, university admission briefings, or counseling for students with disabilities can apply starting at 9 a.m. on the 17th via the Gangbuk-gu Office website → Citizen Participation → District Administration Participation → Integrated Reservation. Applications for the Middle School Students History Golden Bell will be accepted through schools or Google Forms until the 23rd. The form link can be found on the Gangbuk-gu Office website. For further inquiries, contact the district office’s Education Support Division.

Lee Soon-hee, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, said, "'The Gangbuk Career and College Admission Fair: Dream ChatGo, Future JobGo!' is a platform prepared to provide practical help to students and parents who are concerned about career paths and college admissions," adding, "We will continue to create opportunities to assist students in making decisions about their careers and college admissions."
