Gangbuk-gu Mayor Lee Soon-hee Attends Religious Union Grand Bazaar to Support Children with Intractable Diseases

Lee Soon-hee, the Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, attended the '24th Religious Union Charity Bazaar for Helping Children with Incurable Diseases' held at Hanshin University Graduate School of Theology on the 14th.

This event has been organized since 2000 by Gangbuk-gu Hwagyesa Temple, Suyu 1-dong Catholic Church, and Songam Church to give hope to children with incurable diseases. Every year, local religious communities unite to practice love for their neighbors, setting a great example for society.

They donate all proceeds from the bazaar to cover medical expenses for children with incurable diseases. Until last year, they raised 1,308,230,000 KRW to help treat 441 children with incurable diseases, and annually provide donations of 3 million KRW each to about 20 children.

Lee Soon-hee, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, said, “Thank you for breaking down barriers between religions and coming together to help neighbors in need. As you have shown your hearts, we will continue to carry out district administration that cares for and supports residents of Gangbuk-gu who are facing difficulties.”
