Nation's First Permanent Child Abuse Prevention Training Center Opens in Incheon

The nation's first permanent education center for child abuse prevention has opened in Incheon.

On the 13th, Incheon City announced the opening of the 'Incheon Ai Sarang Education Center,' a permanent education center for child abuse prevention, located on the 3rd floor of the Incheon Child Protection Agency in Juan-dong, Michuhol-gu. The city invested 140 million won to remodel 100㎡ of unused space at the Incheon Child Protection Agency, creating a lecture room with 40 seats.

This center will regularly provide education on the definition of child abuse, response guidelines, and legal procedures to mandatory reporters of child abuse crimes, childcare teachers, welfare facility workers, parents, and others.

Incheon City directly operates the child abuse prevention education program and has formed a teaching staff of 92 experts, educating a total of over 52,000 people through 620 sessions so far. Considering that 83% of child abuse perpetrators are parents, the city is making various efforts such as inviting guest speakers for parent education and producing and distributing related video content.

An official from Incheon City stated, "With the opening of the permanent education center, we can operate child abuse prevention education more stably," adding, "We will do our best to make Incheon a safe place for children."
