MDS Intelligence, a subsidiary of embedded solutions specialist MDS Tech (CEO Jichang Geon, Lee Jeongseung), announced on the 12th that it signed an MOU to supply its AIoT solutions globally and provide Japan SoftBank's global USIM service 1NCE domestically at the 2023 AIoT International Exhibition held at COEX.
Through this agreement, MDS Intelligence plans to expand its AIoT technology developed and supplied with its own technology within the DX business, including remote metering solutions and indoor/outdoor digital twin (RapidTWIN) solutions, to SoftBank's customers in Japan and the global market including Japan. Another key objective is to secure leadership in the global IoT market by supplying 1NCE, an IoT-dedicated communication service invested in by SoftBank, to the domestic IoT market. This will further strengthen MDS Intelligence’s IoT platform business, which has already entered the Japanese market, and provide a foundation to expand its market presence.
1NCE, introduced exclusively in Korea through MDS Intelligence, is an IoT-dedicated communication service for connecting IoT applications. It offers communication services at the lowest domestic price with a total data capacity of 500MB over 10 years. It is especially optimized for data acquisition from low-capacity devices and is expected to significantly contribute to reducing communication costs, which is the biggest obstacle for companies adopting and operating IoT.
1NCE already supports most wireless communications and roaming, including 2G/3G/4G/LTE-M and NB-IoT, using multiple carrier networks in over 165 countries across Europe, the Americas, and Asia, proving its excellence with almost no coverage gaps unlike other overseas communication services. 1NCE has partnered exclusively with MDS Intelligence in Korea to provide high-quality, lowest-cost IoT communication services, and combined with MDS Intelligence’s AIoT services and proprietary remote metering solutions, the company expects future business synergies.
Woo Kyungil, Head of the Digital Twin Division at MDS Intelligence, said, “Based on our AIoT expertise, we expect to expand the global IoT market by leveraging SoftBank’s communication technology. With competitive pricing and technology secured for our proprietary remote solutions, we will accelerate domestic and international AMI and DX businesses.”
Daichi Nozaki, SoftBank’s Global Head and Vice President, said, “We look forward to overseas expansion by combining the 1NCE service, which holds exclusive distribution rights in 19 Asian countries and regions including Japan, with various IoT services such as MDS Intelligence’s remote metering (HY-Check).”
Meanwhile, at the AIoT International Exhibition, MDS Intelligence is showcasing software and services including its proprietary IoT platform NeoIDM, remote metering solutions, remote firmware updates, and digital twin solution RapidTWIN.
