At EXCO East Hall 4-5-6 until November 5
Daegu Art Fair (Diaf), which will continue the momentum of the art market expanded by KIAF and Frieze, will open on November 2nd at 2 PM at EXCO East Hall 4, 5, and 6.
Celebrating its 16th edition this year, Daegu Art Fair announced that it has completed preparations to leap into a premium art fair by expanding its scope, preparing diverse programs, and raising the standards for judging criteria and participant approval to enhance the quality of participating galleries and exhibited works.
This year, a total of 116 galleries from Korea, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France will participate. Approximately 1,000 artists will exhibit around 4,500 works.
Notable works include Lee Ufan’s 100-ho painting "From Line" exhibited by Gallery Hyewon, and Alex Katz’s 100-ho painting "Laura 13" presented by Biang Gallery.
Leading Korean blue-chip artists such as Lee Geonyong, Lee Ufan, Park Seobo, Lee Bae, Kwak Hoon, Nam June Paik, Kim Taeho, Choi Byungso, Kim Jonghak, Nam Chunmo, Kim Changyeol, Jeon Gwangyoung, Yoon Byungro, Park Seokwon, and Lee Myungmi will also participate.
Popular international artists include Yayoi Kusama, Takashi Murakami, Andy Warhol, George Condo, Joel Mesler, Anish Kapoor, Rose Wylie, Alex Katz, Jeff Koons, Matthew Stone, Robert Indiana, Byron Kim, Yoshitomo Nara, Javier Calleja, David Hockney, Jean-Michel Othoniel, Julian Opie, Louise Bourgeois, Catherine Bernhardt, Catherine Anholt, Fernando Botero, Jordi Pinto, and others.
The special exhibition will feature an archive exhibition titled "Daegu Contemporary Art Festival, History of Challenge and Resistance," which looks back over 40 years to revive the significance of the "Daegu Contemporary Art Festival" and recall its role today.
Additionally, the works of artist Liu, who pursues a multi-disciplinary art form by integrating various genres, will be unveiled through a special exhibition. The artist’s works, which combine contemporary science and technology with mythological storytelling and weave stories of different forms into one, will be presented in the sculpture special exhibition space for audiences to experience.
Daegu Art Fair will open on November 2nd and run through the 5th.
