In the distribution industry, as products utilizing IP have recently gained popularity, there is keen attention being paid to securing impactful IPs and responding to rapidly changing IP trends.
Amid this market trend, the 5-year-old startup 'Kolly,' which secures and operates domestic and international IPs, is drawing attention.
The startup 'Kolly' launched the IP character product platform 'Kolly' in 2019 and has been securing promising IPs by analyzing product data from 1 million users using AI. It has signed licensing agreements with globally popular IPs such as Disney, Warner Bros., Harry Potter, Jjanggu-neun Motmalryeo, Chiikawa, and Ppanchu Tokki, and has been recognized for its expertise by collaborating as an official digital partner of Disney in 2022. Recently, it has been actively signing IP contracts with influential characters from Kakao Emoticons, Instatoon, and more, receiving collaboration requests from various distributors.
From October 16 for five days, Kolly will showcase a popup store utilizing domestic character IPs in collaboration with Hyundai Department Store Sinchon Branch, and plans to hold another popup event in December at the main popup store space in The Hyundai Yeouido, reflecting the growing consumer demand for IP products.
In particular, Kolly has systematized not only IP contracts and operations but also product planning, production, and distribution processes, creating a fundamental structure that allows the sale of distinctive IP products at reasonable prices, which has impressively generated stable sales.
Currently, Kolly is expanding its influence in the IP market by receiving various collaboration requests from companies aiming to capture generational customers using character IPs.
Since launching its app in 2019, Kolly has shown high growth every year, accumulating 1 million users, and in 2022, it received the Director’s Award at the SW High Growth Club hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency. As of 2023, having received over 10 billion KRW in cumulative investment, Kolly is recognized as a promising startup capable of innovating the IP market despite challenging times, demonstrating its value and growth potential.
