Donations of scholarships for nurturing local talent continue to be made to the Pohang Scholarship Foundation.

On the 10th, Pohang Fisheries Cooperative (Chairman Im Hak-jin) donated 10 million won, the Korea Specialty Construction Association Gyeongbuk Chapter (Chairman Lee Jung-chul) and Pohang City Steering Committee (Chairman Lee Sang-hyuk) each donated 5 million won, the 47th Pohang City Student Council of Korea National Open University (Chairman Lee Sang-yeol) donated 2 million won, and the Daegu·Gyeongbuk Branch of the Korea Bakery Association Pohang City Chapter (Chairman Kim Mi-sook) donated 1 million won to the Pohang Scholarship Foundation.


The Pohang Fisheries Cooperative has practiced warm sharing in the local community and carried out various social contributions, donating a total of 56 million won in scholarships from 2010 to this year.


Im Hak-jin, chairman of the Pohang Fisheries Cooperative, said, “As an institution representing local fishermen, although our fishing industry is facing many difficulties, we hope this will serve as a foundation for outstanding talents who will lead Pohang’s future to dream and grow.” He added, “We plan to continue diverse and systematic social contribution activities for fishermen and marginalized groups.”


The Korea Specialty Construction Association Gyeongbuk Chapter and the Pohang City Steering Committee contributed 5 million won each this year, following their donation of 5 million won in 2021, supporting the development of local talent.


Chairman Lee Jung-chul and other executives of the Korea Specialty Construction Association said, “We hope this will help local students who are quietly striving to realize their future dreams despite difficult circumstances.”


The 47th Pohang City Student Council of Korea National Open University added significance by donating scholarship funds raised through hosting a one-day Hof (beer hall) event.


Chairman Lee Sang-yeol expressed his thoughts, saying, “We gathered the wishes of our members who hope the funds will be meaningfully used for local juniors facing difficulties, and decided to donate the scholarship.”


The Daegu·Gyeongbuk Branch of the Korea Bakery Association Pohang City Chapter donated 1 million won in scholarships. Chairman Kim Mi-sook said, “I hope this small sharing will become strength and hope for students in need,” and added, “We will continue to take interest and participate in nurturing local talent.”


The Daegu·Gyeongbuk Branch of the Korea Bakery Association Pohang City Chapter consists of about 30 members and contributes to the local community through active activities such as promoting Pohang’s bakery industry by participating in the 2023 Light Festival ‘Pwang Restaurant Operation’ and engaging in the Pohang City bakery development and support project.


Additionally, the recently married couple Kim Se-in and Kim Sa-rang commemorated their new start in life by donating 1 million won in scholarships for local juniors.


The Pohang Scholarship Foundation, marking its 33rd anniversary, will hold the 3rd Pohang Scholarship Day event on the 19th.


Since its establishment in 1990, numerous citizens have voluntarily donated scholarship funds, enabling over ten thousand local students to continue their studies. The event will be an opportunity to express gratitude to donors and contributors and to explore directions for the continuous development of the scholarship foundation.
