Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, will distribute dedicated bags free of charge to single-family and multi-family households to promote the separate collection of recyclables.
On the 10th, Nam-gu announced that it will provide dedicated recycling bags free of charge to single-family houses, multi-family houses, and commercial establishments to improve the conditions for separate collection of recyclables.
The reason for providing dedicated recycling bags free of charge to single-family houses, multi-family houses, and commercial establishments is that, unlike apartment complexes which are multi-family housing, the conditions for separating recyclables are weak, and the sorting and processing of recyclables become much easier.
Accordingly, Nam-gu received 25 million KRW in city funds from Gwangju City to produce 190,000 dedicated recycling bags for free distribution and decided to support these bags until the supply is exhausted.
For single-family houses, 20 bags per household per month will be provided, and for multi-family houses and commercial establishments, 30 bags per building or business per month will be supported.
Residents who wish to receive the dedicated recycling bags can visit their local administrative welfare center with their ID and submit an application form.
When using the dedicated bags, it is important to note that only one type of item among transparent PET bottles, vinyl, paper, plastic, cans, scrap metal, or glass bottles should be placed inside and disposed of.
In particular, if waste is disposed of in these bags improperly, a fine of up to 1 million KRW may be imposed, so special caution is required.
A Nam-gu official said, "We ask residents in the district to actively participate in using the dedicated bags to promote the habit of separating recyclables and maintain urban cleanliness."
