US Transportation Equipment Expert Michael Sim Donates 200 Million KRW Development Fund to Keimyung University Dongsan Hospital

Michael Walter Sim (73), founder of SIMCO Engineering in New York, USA, donated 200 million KRW to Keimyung University Dongsan Hospital (Director Park Nam-hee) on the 22nd of last month.

Michael Sim and his wife became interested in supporting the hospital after receiving treatment from Professor Kim Sang-hyun of the Rheumatology Department at Dongsan Hospital, moved by the medical staff's kind explanations and care.

They have been steadily donating development funds since 2019, including a donation of 70 million KRW in 2021. Including this recent contribution, they have donated a total of 300 million KRW.

Michael Sim lived in the United States for about 50 years from 1963 to 2013 and was an expert in the field of transportation facilities. In 1990, he founded SIMCO Engineering, an engineering company specializing in transportation engineering, transportation planning, and environmental analysis, in New York. He dedicated his life to transportation research and construction projects such as runway construction at New York JFK Airport and Newark Airport, as well as bridge construction in the New York and New Jersey areas.

In 2013, wishing to spend the remainder of his life in Korea, he retired and returned to Korea, becoming a role model by engaging in various social volunteer activities including donating his English language skills.
