Geumcheon-gu Installs Fine Dust Alert Devices in Front of Elementary Schools

Installation of Fine Dust Indicators (Traffic Lights) at 5 Elementary Schools... Color Changes in 4 Stages According to Fine Dust Levels, Easy Access to Air Quality Information

Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it has installed 'Fine Dust Alert Devices' at five local elementary schools to protect elementary students who are vulnerable to fine dust.

Geumcheon-gu installed one Fine Dust Alert Device each at five schools?Doksan Elementary, Siheung Elementary, Geumnarae Elementary, Munbaek Elementary, and Baeksan Elementary?that requested installation during a preliminary demand survey. The installation costs were supported by the Seoul Metropolitan Government.

The 'Fine Dust Alert Device' displays real-time air quality information in the form of a traffic light. It shows air quality in four stages (blue, green, yellow, red) according to the concentration of fine dust, allowing anyone to easily perceive the air quality.

Additionally, it provides real-time atmospheric environment information such as fine dust, ultrafine dust, and ozone through an LED screen.

When high concentrations of fine dust occur, such as during fine dust advisories or emergency reduction measures, messages intended for students are displayed on the screen to guide them to avoid exposure to fine dust.

Geumcheon-gu plans to install three more Fine Dust Alert Devices in places with high foot traffic, such as the Anyangcheon walking trail and parks, so that residents can easily check air quality information.

Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “Since fine dust is a direct factor threatening health, such as respiratory diseases, public interest in air quality is increasing. We hope that the Fine Dust Alert Devices will help protect the health of elementary students.”
