Seoul City announced on the 10th that it will newly launch the 'Children's Eye Health Guardian Project' to support eye examinations (vision tests) and discounts on eyeglass purchases for children living with digital devices to protect their eye health.
The 'Children's Eye Health Guardian Project' provides 10-20% eyeglass discount coupons (including vision tests) in cooperation with eyeglass companies (Eutteum50 Eyeglasses, Davichi Eyeglasses, Star Vision (O-Lens)) to protect children's eye health. After receiving a vision test at an eyeglass store, children can purchase glasses at a discounted price. The program targets households with children aged 12 or younger (born after October 1, 2010), supporting 3,000 children monthly.
First, starting at 9 a.m. on the 11th, 3,000 participants will be recruited on a first-come, first-served basis over three days through the Seoul Public Service Reservation System. Applicants can select their preferred eyeglass company when applying, and eligible participants will be issued discount coupons usable at the selected eyeglass company. The coupon validity period is three months. Eutteum50 Eyeglasses and O-Lens (Star Vision) offer a 20% discount each, while Davichi Eyeglasses provides a 10% discount.
Kim Seon-soon, Director of the Seoul City Women and Family Policy Office, said, “The 'Children's Eye Health Guardian' project, launched as part of the Children's Happiness Project, is a program prepared through cooperation between Seoul City and private companies to protect the eye health of children who frequently use digital devices. Since we plan to support 3,000 children with discount coupons every month starting this month, we hope many households with elementary school children or younger will apply.”
