Walking about 6km starting from under the Yangjaecheon Yeongdong 5-gyo South Bridge on the 11th, blood lipid tests before and after walking
Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) will hold a healthy walking experience event at Yangjaecheon on the 11th from 1:30 PM to 5 PM. About 500 participants will start under the southern end of Yeongdong 5 Bridge at Yangjaecheon and walk approximately 6 km (about 10,000 steps).
This event has been popular as it is not just a simple walking event but an experiential event where participants can immediately check the effects of walking through physical activity tests before and after walking. At the event held last April, over 400 people participated and experienced a significant effect of decreased post-meal blood sugar after walking 10,000 steps. Reflecting the support and demand of the residents, the number of participants was increased by 100, and the pre-registration for a total of 500 participants was completed in September. Also, the physical activity test items have been newly changed, and this time pre- and post-walking blood lipid measurement tests will be conducted.
The walking course is a total of 6 km, starting from under the southern end of Yeongdong 5 Bridge, passing Yeongdong 6 Bridge, the confluence of Yangjaecheon and Tancheon, Daechi Bridge, Yeongdong 3 Bridge, Yeongdong 4 Bridge, and returning to the starting point. The expected duration is 1 hour and 20 minutes. To add fun to the walk, a stamp tour will be held at six locations along the course. After finishing the walk, health packages will be given according to the number of stamps collected.
Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, said, “In October, which is perfect for walking, I hope residents will walk together along the beautiful Yangjaecheon and personally experience the health benefits brought by light walking.” He added, “We will continue to expand various health promotion projects so that residents can steadily manage their health in daily life.”
