2023 Nowon Street Festival 'Dancing Nowon' Opens

Nowon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) held the '2023 Nowon Street Festival Dancing Nowon' on the 7th along a 555m section of Nohae-ro (from Lotte Department Store Intersection to Nowon Full Gospel Church).

Planned under the theme 'Youth and Future! Dynamic Nowon,' the '2023 Dancing Nowon' was thoughtfully organized into three zones?Parade Zone, Youth Theme Zone, and Family Theme Zone?so that people of all ages could enjoy the event together.

The 'Parade Contest,' which began at 2 p.m., was the core content of Dancing Nowon. Nineteen resident autonomy teams from each neighborhood and 14 children and youth teams participated, showcasing various performances such as dance, ballet, martial arts, percussion, hip-hop, and cheerleading to lively music, captivating visitors' attention.

Event booths set up in each theme zone offered various programs that visitors could participate in directly, adding to the residents' enjoyment.

The Family Theme Zone featured popular experience booths for children and families, including fire and police uniform trials, VR, face painting, and craft activities, which drew long lines. The centrally located Youth Theme Zone was also lively with teenagers performing random play dances to randomly played K-pop music.

A variety of food and beverages were also prepared to enjoy alongside the performances. Notably, about 10 types of craft beers prepared by the 'Nowon Craft Beer Cooperative' and 'Brauhaus Baneheim,' known as the first generation of domestic craft beer breweries, were highlights.

At the 'Brand Fair' held in the alleys around the festival site, visitors could experience various brands and products unique to Nowon-gu, offering a distinctive enjoyment.

Meanwhile, the opening ceremony was held at 7 p.m. on the stage in front of Lotte Department Store, featuring various performances.

Starting with the 200-member residents' choir singing 'We Are One,' themed on the prosperity and harmony of the district, the Dancing Nowon ambassadors 'Taekwonkree' and 'Dancing Supporters' appeared one after another to perform a dance challenge (flash mob) to the 2023 Dancing Nowon theme song.

The Yeonhui group 'Creative Center Dandi' team added brilliance with an aerial performance inspired by butterflies, and the stage reached its climax with performances by singer Bada, breaking artist Rit, and EDM DJs Engine & Minhyuk.

Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, “We greet you anew with the 2023 Nowon Street Festival ‘Dancing Nowon,’ a street parade-type festival that sheds the old mask and unites through ‘dancing.’ We hope everyone will come out and enjoy a break from everyday life at Dancing Nowon, which continues until the 8th.”
