The Japanese government announced on the 6th that the IAEA task force will visit Japan from the 24th to the 27th to verify the discharge of contaminated water. This will be the first on-site verification by the IAEA task force at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant since the start of the contaminated water marine discharge on August 24.
The IAEA task force includes 11 experts from South Korea, the United States, China, Russia, the United Kingdom, France, Canada, Australia, Argentina, Vietnam, and the Marshall Islands. They are expected to visit the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant immediately after the completion of the second phase of contaminated water discharge to inspect the related facilities.
Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) began the second phase of marine discharge of contaminated water from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant the day before. Currently, the IAEA has established an on-site office separate from the task force to verify the contaminated water discharge process. The South Korean government has also dispatched experts to the on-site office.
