As a province-wide signature campaign wishing for the successful launch of Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province unfolds, the enthusiasm for the signature campaign in Sunchang-gun is steadily rising.
According to the county on the 6th, the current Jeonbuk Special Act contains only 28 symbolic provisions. Through this signature campaign, the plan is to urge the passage of the full revision of the 'Jeonbuk Special Act' in the National Assembly within this year, spread public consensus, and achieve the goal of one million signatures from residents.

Accordingly, Sunchang-gun, in step with the province, opened signature booths at the county office and eup/myeon administrative welfare centers from the end of September, and launched a full-scale signature campaign by promoting village-by-village signature drives step-by-step through meetings of village heads.
Moreover, they are putting full effort into simultaneous and widespread promotion using multi-occupancy places with large crowds in the town, LED promotional videos in apartment elevators, and banners.
In particular, during the mid-month period of this month, the local representative festival, the ‘Sunchang Jangryu Festival,’ signature booths will be set up, and until the end of this month, large-scale campaigns to encourage local residents to participate in signing will be intensively conducted in places with high foot traffic such as the terminal and the public stadium where various sports competitions are held, aiming to raise public consensus in the community.
Earlier, on the 4th, county officials gathered to perform a resolution performance to establish an organic work system with the purpose of wishing for the successful launch of the special self-governing province. Based on this, they plan to check and encourage the performance of each department and eup/myeon weekly until the end of this month and accelerate the early achievement of the signature goal.
County Governor Choi Young-il said, “The passage of the full revision of the Jeonbuk Special Act, which reflects specific and effective special provisions, is an important issue directly linked to the future development of Sunchang-gun,” adding, “We ask for the active support and participation of all residents to achieve the one million signature campaign early, to inform both domestic and international audiences of Jeonbuk Province’s aspirations, and to ensure the successful launch of Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province.”
Meanwhile, the signature campaign is scheduled to continue until October and will be conducted simultaneously online and offline targeting all citizens including residents of Sunchang-gun.
Participants can sign directly on signature sheets available at the county office, eup/myeon community centers, festival sites, and various event venues, or participate online by accessing the Jeonbuk Provincial Office website through a QR code.
