30,000 Visitors During Chuseok Holiday Period
Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, announced that over 30,000 people visited the ‘Sansocafe Cheongsong Garden,’ the nation’s largest garden of cockscomb flowers (approximately 42,000 pyeong), during the six-day Chuseok holiday (September 28 to October 3), when the cockscomb flowers were in full bloom.
Cheongsong Garden, which attracted 150,000 visitors last year, opened on the 1st of last month and has welcomed a cumulative total of 60,000 visitors so far, making it a representative flower garden of Cheongsong-gun.
Starting with the sowing of cockscomb seeds in July, Cheongsong Garden was created with the participation of 18 local organizations and residents, including the Cheongsong-gun Saemaeul Association. During the Chuseok holiday period, the garden continued to attract returning visitors and tourists visiting their hometowns.
This is attributed to Cheongsong-gun’s efforts to prepare additional parking lots for the holiday period, maintain walking paths to allow visitors to fully enjoy the garden, and provide rest areas where visitors can relax and enjoy the cockscomb flowers.
In particular, recently, Cheongsong Garden has become known as a great place for barefoot walking along with the cockscomb flowers, leading to a steady increase in visitors. Various cultural performances such as the Gyeongbuk Choir Festival, Cheongsong Arts Festival, and busking performances are also planned until the end of October, so the number of visitors is expected to grow further.
County Governor Yoon Kyung-hee said, “Local residents and organizations have worked together to provide a comfortable resting space for visitors and tourists who came to Cheongsong during the long holiday period,” adding, “We will do our best to operate the garden so that visitors can have unforgettable memories until the last day of the Cheongsong Garden cockscomb flower complex’s operation.”
