'Comma to Meet in Autumn', Recharge at Gumi City Library!

Library Architecture, Nordic Travel, Dokdo Humanities Workshop, and Hobby Classes Included

Gumi City Central Library in Gyeongbuk will operate themed and hobby lectures from October 11 to December 19 to welcome the "Autumn with Rest."

'Comma to Meet in Autumn', Recharge at Gumi City Library! A trip to Northern Europe in autumn.

The themed lectures are under the theme "A Humanities Journey in Autumn" and consist of ▲Beautiful Libraries of the World ▲The Land of Canals, Netherlands and Belgium: Artworks and Alleyways.

"Beautiful Libraries of the World" is a lecture series given by photographer Lim Young-gyun, who is more famous abroad, covering libraries in New York, Paris, Germany, Ireland, Spain, and Portugal captured during his travels around the world. The lectures will be held three times (October 11, 18, and 31).

In particular, the Weimar Library in Germany is where Goethe served for 50 years, and Trinity College in Ireland is the library that has produced the most Nobel laureates.

Lim Young-gyun, who held the "Nam June Paik's Memory" invitational exhibition at the British Museum in 2005, also held the "Beautiful Libraries of the World Exhibition" this year at the Seoul Art Book Library, providing a precious opportunity to experience libraries worldwide up close. His photo collections include "Lim Young-gyun Portrait Collection," "Scenes of Everyday Life," and "Nam June Paik Here and Now."

With Northern European travel becoming a trend, the lecture "The Land of Canals, Netherlands and Belgium: Artworks and Alleyways Tour" will be held over two days on the 12th and 13th. The lecturer is Park Young-jin, who has worked in Europe for 20 years, authored seven books including "Dyed in Portugal" and "Touched by Spain," and is currently the CEO of a travel agency.

The short-term cultural courses, organized as hobby lectures, will run for nine weeks from October 23 to December 19. The four courses include ▲Viewing the World through the Analects ▲Art as a Resting Place for the Mind ▲Wildflower Celadon Art ▲A Warm Time Reading Picture Books. Registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis on the library website from October 6 to 19.

Lee Seon-im, director of Gumi City Central Library, said, "After a hot summer, we have opened various lectures to comfort citizens tired of daily life in the cool autumn breeze season, hoping it will be a good time to soothe the mind."

The "Dokdo Humanities Classroom," hosted and organized by Daegu Haany University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation and the Dokdo & Ahn Yong-bok Research Institute, with Gumi City Central Library providing the venue, will be held with two special lectures on Dokdo (October 17 and 19) and one field trip (October 21). The field trip will visit Busan Sugangsa Temple, where Ahn Yong-bok's memorial tablet is enshrined, and Ahn Yong-bok's birthplace. Participants are currently being recruited on a first-come, first-served basis through the library homepage.
