Mokpo National University Hosts Jeong Tae-chun and Park Eun-ok's 'Fly, Duck Boat' Concert

Free Concert Celebrating 40th Debut Anniversary in Collaboration with Local Community

National Mokpo University (President Song Ha-cheol) announced that it will hold the ‘Jung Tae-chun & Park Eun-ok 40th Anniversary Concert (Nalja, Ori-bae)’ at 7 p.m. on the 5th at the Mokpo University 70th Anniversary Hall, Cheonggang Academia Hall.

Hosted by National Mokpo University and organized by the Jung Tae-chun & Park Eun-ok 40 Project Group, and sponsored by Jeollanam-do, Mokpo City, and Muan County, this concert is held to commemorate the ‘2023 Kim Dae-jung Peace Conference’ and the 40th anniversary of Jung Tae-chun & Park Eun-ok’s debut. Last month, Mokpo University declared itself a ‘Culture and Arts-Centered University’ and planned this event to share high-quality performances with the local community.

The Culture and Arts-Centered University declared by Mokpo University embodies three goals under the vision of ‘mutual development of the university and the region through culture and arts’: establishing a growth foundation as an incubator for local culture and arts development, creating an environment where university members and local residents can enjoy high-quality culture and arts, and promoting the development of Jeonnam’s culture and arts industry in collaboration with local governments and related organizations.

Song Ha-cheol, President of National Mokpo University, stated, “We will continue to plan excellent concerts, performances, and exhibitions to contribute to the enhancement of local culture and arts.”

Jung Tae-chun and Park Eun-ok, masters of Korean popular music and pioneers of folk music, debuted in the late 1970s and are poets and social activists. Their representative songs include ‘Siin-ui Maeul (Poet’s Village)’, ‘Tteonaganeun Bae (Departing Ship)’, and ‘Chotbul (Candlelight)’. Since 1984, they have released joint albums as a couple, offering empathy and comfort to many people. In October 1989, they performed and released the album ‘Nureong Songaji (Yellow Calf)’ at the Mokpo University Daedongje Festival.
