Kim Hong-yeol (Hongten) and Kwon Seong-hee (Starry), members of the Breaking team at Dobong District Office (Mayor Oh Eon-seok), will compete in the breaking event at the 19th Hangzhou Asian Games.
Breaking, which has been officially included as an event for the first time in this competition, features one gold medal each for men and women, with no team events.
The competition will be held in a one-on-one battle format in the B-boy and B-girl categories. On the 6th (3:30 PM to 8:55 PM), the preliminaries and round of 16 group stage will take place, followed by the quarterfinals to finals on the 7th (7:00 PM to 9:30 PM).
The winner of the Hangzhou Asian Games will qualify directly for the 2024 Paris Olympics, and the athletes who finish second in each category will earn the opportunity to participate in the Paris Olympic qualifiers.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong District, said, “On the 6th and 7th, Kim Hong-yeol and Kwon Seong-hee from Dobong District Office will represent the national team in breaking at the Hangzhou Asian Games,” and added, “We ask all residents to show great interest and support so that the athletes can perform at their best.”
