15 Selected Works and Past Winners Displayed at COEX East Gate Lobby from 5th to 9th... Awards Ceremony on 6th at 3 PM... Experience This Year's Architecture with 360-Degree VR Tour and AI Display for Future Designs Featuring Advanced Equipment
Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) will hold the 12th Beautiful Architecture Exhibition from the 5th to the 9th at the COEX East Gate Lobby.
The awards ceremony will take place at 3 PM on the 6th.
Since 2006, the district has been selecting "Beautiful Architecture" to encourage excellent buildings that enhance the urban landscape and to promote the development of architectural culture. Through a public recruitment held from April to June, submissions were received, and in July, a total of 15 works were selected: Grand Prize (1), Excellence Award (2), Merit Award (3), and Beautiful Architecture Award (9).
The building awarded the Grand Prize is GOLD&WISE THE FIRST (photo, 849 Eonju-ro) located in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu. It is a KB Financial office facility with 2 basement levels and 7 above-ground floors, covering a total floor area of 3,293.34㎡. The building features a ground floor that opens softly outward in an arch shape, and floors 3 to 5 where sunlight enters through curved aluminum louvers, creating a beautiful space.
The Excellence Awards went to ▲D_734 (734 Samsung-ro) ▲VINYL C Building at 75-6 Nonhyeon-dong (32 Nonhyeon-ro 142-gil). The Merit Awards were given to ▲Science and Technology Workers Welfare Complex (22 Teheran-ro 7-gil) ▲TIM (6-9 Hakdong-ro 6-gil) ▲El Tree Tower (20 Yeoksam-ro 1-gil).
The exhibition is organized into three themes: Gangnam’s past, present, and future. Visitors can freely enjoy various contents such as Gangnam’s history explored through big data and infographics, media interaction content showcasing past award-winning works, a 360-degree VR tour that allows experiencing this year’s selected buildings as if in person, an AI display where visitors can draw images of their dream buildings for the future, and interview videos with the award-winning architects. Detailed information about the exhibition can be found on the official website.
Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, stated, “Each selected building is a work of art that adds beauty to the city and contributes to the development of domestic architectural culture. We hope many people will continue to show interest in the unique and splendid buildings that make Gangnam’s streets more attractive.”
