Three On-Site Inspection Teams Deployed... Full Survey of 1,222 CCTV Locations and 1,014 Emergency Bells by the 13th
District Opened Disaster Safety Situation Room Last September and Conducted Public-Private Joint Patrols... Establishing a 24/7 Safety Network Year-Round
Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) recently announced that it has begun a full inspection of CCTV and emergency bells in the area as residents' anxiety over violent crimes has increased.
The inspection, which runs until November 13, targets 1,222 CCTV locations and 1,014 emergency bells installed throughout Mapo-gu.
To ensure a professional investigation, the district formed three on-site inspection teams consisting of the head of the video information team and six maintenance service personnel, operating since last month.
The inspection focuses on items such as ▲communication and control status of emergency bells and intercoms with the control center ▲corrosion and paint condition of CCTV cameras and other facilities ▲waterproofing status of facilities ▲management status of attached guide signs.
After completing the on-site inspection, the district plans to categorize repair targets in detail to carry out defect repairs and replacements, while updating data on facility aging to utilize in future maintenance plans.
In Mapo-gu, the female population accounts for 53% of the total population, the highest among Seoul's autonomous districts, and the number of single female households ranks fifth.
Accordingly, in addition to the full survey of CCTV and emergency bells, the district is also making every effort in various crime prevention projects for vulnerable groups such as women, including ▲creating women’s safe return home paths with enhanced patrols in cooperation with the police ▲operating a thorough monitoring team to check and inspect security facilities ▲the Safe Return Home app for monitoring returns ▲providing crime prevention supplies for single-person households and stalking victims.
Mayor Park Gang-su said, “We will expand necessary safety facilities for residents’ safety and thoroughly manage existing safety facilities so that all residents can live their daily lives with peace of mind,” adding, “We will do our best for a safe Mapo 365 days a year through continuous system improvements and the introduction of innovative safety facilities.”
The district operates the ‘Safe Mapo Hotline,’ where nine organizations including Mapo Police Station and fire stations cooperate in safety response to ensure residents’ safety 24/7. Last month, Mapo-gu opened a new Disaster Safety Situation Room, and on the 25th, conducted a joint patrol for creating a safe walking environment called the ‘Mapo-gu Safe Return Home Path Joint Patrol’ with Mapo Police Station and the autonomous crime prevention squad.
