Pamir Therapeutics (CEO Cheolgi Moon) announced that it won the top award, ‘Best,’ in the diagnostics and laboratory equipment category at the ‘2023 MedTech Innovation Awards’ held on September 13.

The MedTech Innovation Awards were newly established to enhance business value for domestic and international market entry of technologies in the medical device and healthcare fields. A panel of experts evaluated the technologies related to medical devices and healthcare held by universities, research institutes, hospitals, and companies based on technical merit, aesthetics, and innovation, selecting the final winners in each category.

Pamir Therapeutics, a company developing in vitro diagnostic kits for degenerative brain diseases, was recognized for its technology ‘RT-qPCR-based early Parkinson’s disease in vitro diagnostic kit using miRNA biomarkers’ and received the top award, Best, in the diagnostics and laboratory equipment category.

Parkinson’s disease is one of the representative degenerative brain diseases. Although there is no fundamental cure for the disease, early detection and treatment can slow symptom progression, helping to maintain patients’ quality of life, which creates a high unmet medical need for early diagnosis.

The ‘RT-qPCR-based early Parkinson’s disease in vitro diagnostic kit’ technology awarded to Pamir Therapeutics detects Parkinson’s disease by identifying miRNA biomarkers through Real-time PCR and has demonstrated diagnostic efficacy through clinical trials.

Cheolgi Moon, CEO of Pamir Therapeutics, stated, “Being selected as Best at the inaugural MedTech Awards this year is very meaningful,” and added, “We will commence confirmatory clinical trials soon to obtain product approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.”
