It has been confirmed that more than 150,000 tourists visited Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do during the recent Chuseok holiday.
According to the county on the 4th, about 142,000 people visited Hwangryonggang during the Chuseok holiday, and visitors to the Jangseongho waterfront trail also exceeded 11,000, bringing the total for the two locations to over 150,000.
The Hwangryonggang Autumn Flower Festival, held from the 7th to the 15th, is the largest event in Jangseong, where visitors can enjoy autumn flowers blooming along the 3.2 km stretch of the Hwangryonggang riverside, as well as abundant attractions, food, and entertainment.
Under the theme "From Jangseong," this year’s festival conveys the beautiful stories of the autumn flowers along Hwangryonggang to visitors.
The county planted a variety of colorful autumn flowers such as sulfur cosmos, zinnia, and celosia across a 91,800㎡ area from the Jangseongho area to Hwangryonggang.
The Healing Herb Garden and the themed garden near the old public stadium, the main stage of the festival, catch the eye. In particular, the sunflowers in the Healing Herb Garden are especially meaningful as they were planted together by the residents of Jangseong who rolled up their sleeves to prepare for the festival.
The festival offers diverse content so that everyone can stay by the riverside and enjoy the event, including the "Flower Outing Campnic," a combination of camping and picnic; the "Flower Scent Sound Playground," where children can run freely; and the "Our Family Pet Playground," where visitors can enjoy the festival with their pets.
The performances also attract attention. The "Opening Celebration Show Best Songs," held on the evening of the 7th, features performances by Seol Woon-do, Jo Hang-jo, Shin Yu, and Yang Ji-eun. On the 8th, singers with strong vocal skills such as Lee Seok-hoon, Park Hye-won, and Sunwoo hold concerts. On weekdays, the "Moonlight Party," where visitors can enjoy music of various genres, livens up the festival atmosphere.
The even more beautiful nightscape is also highly anticipated. Following the popular flower tunnel, cultural bridge, and landscape lighting near Yongjakgyo from last year’s autumn flower festival, this year, lighting has been installed directly on Yongjakgyo, shaped like a dragon, to maximize splendor and mystery.
County Governor Kim Han-jong said, "The record of 150,000 visitors during the Chuseok holiday reflects the great public interest in the Jangseong Hwangryonggang Autumn Flower Festival," adding, "We will do our best to provide a rich and fulfilling festival and a pleasant and safe environment to meet visitors’ expectations."
