The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 4th that it will accept applications for the '2024 Academic Year Public Middle School Teacher New Recruitment' from the 16th to the 20th of this month.
The planned number of recruits is 55 teachers across 19 subjects, including Korean language (50 general recruitment and 5 for disabled category), which is the same as the previously announced planned number. This is an increase of 10 compared to last year's 45 teachers across 14 subjects.
Only those who hold a teaching certificate for the relevant subject or are expected to obtain it by the end of February 2024 are eligible to apply. Applications must be submitted through the Gwangju Office of Education's NAIS online teacher recruitment system.
Applicants for public schools can also apply simultaneously to one private school (corporation) in Gwangju city where the exam is held on the same day through the public-private simultaneous application system.
Applicants can choose one of three methods to submit their application: public school only, public school (first choice) and private school (second choice), or private school only.
However, simultaneous public-private applications are only allowed for subjects permitted by some corporations, so applicants must carefully check their eligibility.
The first round of the appointment exam will be held on November 25 and will consist of Educational Studies (essay type) and Major Subjects (short answer and descriptive type).
The second round, which is only for those who pass the first round, will be held on January 17, 23, and 24 next year, and will include practical exams, teaching demonstrations, and in-depth interviews on teaching aptitude.
The results of the first round will be announced on December 28, and the final successful candidates will be announced on February 8 next year.
