Ryu Eun-hee (Gyori, Hungary), the star of the South Korean women's handball team that reached the final at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, expressed her feelings, saying, "I was at the scene of the Guangzhou defeat, so I am relieved and happy to have overcome it."

On the 3rd, the South Korean women's handball team won 30-23 against China in the semifinals held at the Zhejiang Gongshang University Gymnasium in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China.

Accordingly, our team will compete for the gold medal against Japan or Kazakhstan at the same venue on the 5th.

After the match, Ryu Eun-hee said, "Although the score was tied in the early second half, it was due to our minor mistakes, so I never thought we would lose. I was not anxious because I believed that if we focused a little more on defense, we could win."

The 'Guangzhou defeat' mentioned by Ryu Eun-hee refers to the South Korean women's handball team winning the bronze medal at the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games.

At that time, the South Korean women's handball team lost to Japan in the semifinals and finished third, which is recorded as the only Asian Games tournament where South Korean women's handball did not win the gold medal.

Ryu Eun-hee explained, "I am the only player from the national team back then who is still on the team now. I was the youngest at that time and it all passed by in a blur, but since we lost to Japan in the semifinals, I made up my mind that 'I will never lose again,' and since then, I have not lost to Japan."

With Japan likely to be the opponent in the final of this tournament, she showed her determination to definitely win.

Following Ryu Eun-hee’s 7 goals, Lee Mi-kyung (Busan Facilities Management Corporation), who scored 6 goals, emphasized, "Japan, whom we will meet in the final, has always been tough for us in the early stages of recent matches, but if we can overcome that pressure, we can have a good game."
