"Full-Fledged Camping Season Begins" HMR Gaining Popularity with Convenience and Portability

As the full-fledged camping season approaches, various Home Meal Replacements (HMR) are attracting attention. Since it is cumbersome to prepare and trim ingredients one by one during outdoor camping, products that combine ease of cooking and portability are popular.

For those who want to enjoy an atmospheric brunch while camping, Ottogi’s ‘Shake & Pan’ is recommended. It comes in two types: 'Pancake Mix' and 'Waffle Mix'. There is no need for a whisk, measuring cup, or mixing bowl; just add milk to the mix in the container, make the batter, and cook it in a frying pan to complete it immediately. The capacity has been increased from the previous 150g to 200g, allowing for generous enjoyment, and the batter consistency has been improved to a moist, optimal flow from the container.

There are also convenient seasonings for meat dishes such as chicken, which are often sought after for camping dinners. 'Oneul Bapsang Andong Jjimdak' and 'Dakbokkeumtang' require only preparing chicken for stew, carrots, onions, and other desired ingredients, then adding water and seasoning together and boiling to easily complete the dish. They are also highly portable due to room temperature storage. The Andong Jjimdak seasoning features a deep and clean taste from soy sauce and chili powder, with a soft umami flavor from using domestic pears, while the Dakbokkeumtang seasoning highlights a clean, spicy flavor from chili and domestic garlic.

Authentic barbecue pork ribs have also been released as HMR to be easily enjoyed while camping. Recently introduced by Chosun Hotel & Resort, the 'Chosun Hotel Barbecue Pork Ribs' are made from carefully selected pork back ribs with thick meat attached. Generously marinated with ingredients such as garlic and ginger for a day, and coated with a special seasoning sauce, it preserves tender yet chewy meat texture. When cooked outdoors on a grill, the smoky flavor enhances the experience, making it even more delightful.

LF Food’s ramen and donburi specialty restaurant ‘Hakoya’ introduced last year the ‘Whole! Pork Neck Skewers,’ which use whole cuts of pork neck. The large cuts are marinated with Hakoya’s special sauce to eliminate any off-flavors while preserving the meat juice, providing a rich texture. Grilling them makes for a perfect emotional camping dish, and the included seasoning powder made with various herbs, salt, and pepper offers an exotic barbecue flavor, allowing enjoyment without any additional sauce.
