Democratic Party: "Yoon Government Halves Budget for Elderly Care Facilities... Deepening Seniors' Worries"

The Democratic Party of Korea claimed on the 2nd that the budget related to the elderly has been cut under the Yoon Suk-yeol administration. The Democratic Party pledged to secure the budget for senior centers and related areas.

Park Seong-jun, spokesperson for the Democratic Party, stated in a written briefing, "Our society is rapidly entering a super-aged society, and many difficulties are being faced in old age. The government's role in welfare and facilities suitable for an aged society is more important than ever," and criticized, "The Yoon Suk-yeol administration is not alleviating the burdens of the elderly but rather deepening their worries."

Spokesperson Park said, "While it is necessary to expand elderly care facilities to meet the increasing demand, the government has instead halved the budget for related projects in next year's budget," and introduced, "There are high complaints that the facilities are poor and the programs provided are insufficient." He continued, "There is also a lack of preparation for elderly poverty caused by income gaps."

He added, "On behalf of the Yoon Suk-yeol administration, the Democratic Party of Korea will show greater filial piety to the elderly," and stated, "We will take more meticulous care so that the elderly can enjoy a stable and healthy life."
