Choi Dong-yeol (24, Gangwon Provincial Office) won the bronze medal in the men's 50m breaststroke swimming event at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games. On the 29th, Choi finished third in the men's 50m breaststroke final held at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Swimming Pool in Zhejiang Province, China, with a time of 26.93 seconds. He improved his own Korean record set in the preliminaries (27.06 seconds) by 0.13 seconds.
Choi Dong-yeol became the first Korean swimmer to stand on the podium in the men's 50m breaststroke at the Asian Games. Chin Haiyang (China) with 26.35 seconds and Sun Jiajun (China) with 26.92 seconds took first and second place, respectively.
Choi collected four medals in this competition. After winning a silver medal in the men's 400m medley relay, and bronze medals in the mixed 400m medley relay and men's 100m breaststroke, he earned his fourth medal in his final event of the tournament. He also set new Korean records in the men's 50m and 100m breaststroke (59.28 seconds).
