3rd Overall in Qualifiers with 27.06 Seconds
Choi Dong-yeol (24, Gangwon Provincial Office) set a new Korean record in the men's 50m breaststroke swimming event at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games and advanced to the final.
On the 29th, Choi Dong-yeol finished the men's 50m breaststroke preliminary race at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games swimming competition held at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Swimming Pool in Zhejiang Province, China, with a time of 27.06 seconds.
This time improved his own Korean record of 27.09 seconds, set at the 16th Jeju Hallabae National Swimming Competition in November 2021, by 0.03 seconds.

Choi Dong-yeol advanced to the final as the third overall, following Qin Haiyang (China, 26.25 seconds) and Sun Jianjun (China, 27.01 seconds). He will compete in the final race with eight swimmers at 8:36 PM that day.
Choi Dong-yeol is aiming to win his fourth medal in this competition. He has already won a total of three medals: a silver in the men's 400m medley relay, and bronzes in the mixed medley relay 400m and men's 100m breaststroke.
