Woori Bank Introduces 'AI Inspection Chatbot' for Employees to Strengthen Internal Controls

Woori Bank announced on the 3rd that it will utilize the 'Artificial Intelligence (AI) Inspection Chatbot,' the first of its kind developed in the banking sector, to strengthen internal controls.


The AI Inspection Chatbot is a knowledge search service for employees based on natural language understanding (NLU) technology trained on inspection-related data. Woori Bank analyzed over 5,700 cases and regulations using AI technology and designed 353 scenarios to develop the natural language processing chatbot service. The bank plans to continuously improve the quality of conversations through ongoing learning and error analysis.


The AI Inspection Chatbot was first applied to routine audit tasks. In processes requiring management decision-making, it identifies audit targets from employees' natural language queries during the pre- and post-verification by standing audit committee members, providing key related information (such as past similar cases, relevant regulations, official documents) to reduce risks for operational staff.


Woori Bank plans to expand the AI Inspection Chatbot to cover all tasks of the Inspection Headquarters by November, aiming to prevent risks and strengthen internal controls.


A Woori Bank official stated, “We expect the introduction of the ‘AI Inspection Chatbot,’ specialized in inspection knowledge, to improve the efficiency of inspection tasks,” adding, “We will establish an ‘AI-based automated inspection environment’ by responding to digital environments such as digitalization and big data and creating a proactive inspection environment to prevent incidents.”
