The 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games men's football team, led by coach Hwang Sun-hong, crushed Kyrgyzstan and advanced to the quarterfinals.

On the 27th, at the 16th round match held at the Jinhua Sports Center Stadium in Zhejiang Province, China, Hwang Sun-hong's team dominated Kyrgyzstan 5-1, led by Jeong Woo-young's performance, who scored two goals including one penalty kick. Baek Seung-ho, Cho Young-wook, and Hong Hyun-seok each scored one goal.

Coach Hwang Sun-hong deployed Park Jae-yong as the forward and positioned Jeong Woo-young, Lee Kang-in, and Eom Won-sang in the second line, adopting a 4-2-3-1 formation. The midfield was guarded by Baek Seung-ho and Jeong Ho-yeon, while the back four defense line consisted of Seol Young-woo, Kim Tae-hyun, Park Jin-seop, and Hwang Jae-won. The goal was protected by Lee Kwang-yeon.

The early flow went smoothly. In the 10th minute of the first half, Seol Young-woo earned a foul inside the opponent's penalty box, and the referee awarded a penalty kick. Captain Baek Seung-ho successfully converted the penalty kick to score the opening goal. Then, just one minute later, Jeong Woo-young connected a header from Eom Won-sang's cross, extending the lead to 2-0.

The smooth game flow was interrupted by a careless mistake in the 28th minute of the first half. Baek Seung-ho failed to properly receive a pass from the deepest position, which was intercepted by the opponent Maksat Aligulov and converted into a goal.

The team, disappointed by the conceded goal, failed to add more goals and ended the first half 2-1.

Coach Hwang Sun-hong made changes to the attack by bringing in Hong Hyun-seok and Cho Young-wook at the start of the second half. However, the flow remained uneasy as no goals were scored until the middle of the second half.

The frustrating flow was resolved in the 29th minute of the second half due to an unexpected mistake by the opposing defense. Seol Young-woo penetrated to the opponent's right side and delivered a cross, which deflected off the opposing defender Arslan Bekberdinov and went out beyond the goal line. At that moment, Bekberdinov stretched out his right arm, and the referee judged that the ball touched Bekberdinov's arm and awarded a penalty kick. Bekberdinov protested, claiming the ball deflected off his head, but the protest was rejected.

Jeong Woo-young converted the fortunate penalty kick into a goal, making it 3-1.

Subsequently, two consecutive goals were scored in quick succession, rapidly widening the score gap. In the 34th minute of the second half, Lee Go-young-jun made a penetrating pass between the opposing defenders, which Cho Young-wook, who had penetrated behind the defense, finished. In the 40th minute of the second half, Hong Hyun-seok lightly pushed in a ball that deflected off the opposing defense in front of the goal, scoring the clinching goal.

Coach Hwang Sun-hong carefully managed the condition of ace Lee Kang-in. Lee Kang-in started the match and played 60 minutes until the 15th minute of the second half. Lee Kang-in had suffered an injury just before joining the national team and underwent nearly a month of rehabilitation at his club Paris Saint-Germain.
