LG Electronics Holds Event to Support Manufacturing Competitiveness of Partners

Productivity Improvement Best Practices Sharing Meeting Held

LG Electronics held a session to discover and share outstanding cases of productivity improvement among its partners, taking steps to support the manufacturing competitiveness of domestic partners.

On the 26th, LG Electronics hosted a 'Productivity Improvement Best Practices' sharing meeting for its partners at the LG Smart Park R&D Center in Changwon, Gyeongnam. The event was attended by Wang Cheol-min, Executive Vice President and Head of LG Electronics Global Operations Center, along with representatives from 35 domestic partner companies, totaling 77 participants.

Since 2013, LG Electronics has been holding 'Productivity Improvement Best Practices' sharing meetings with domestic and overseas partners. The purpose is to discover and encourage outstanding activities that improve manufacturing competitiveness, such as automation of production processes and establishment of information systems, and to strengthen partners' manufacturing competitiveness through sharing these cases.

The LG Smart Park in Changwon, where the event was held, is LG Electronics' core production base for home appliances. Last year, it became the first in the domestic home appliance industry to be selected as a 'Lighthouse Factory' by the World Economic Forum (WEF). Earlier, in July, LG Electronics held a productivity improvement best practices sharing meeting for overseas partners at its production subsidiary in Haiphong, Vietnam.

At this sharing meeting, improvement cases from five partners with outstanding performance were shared. An air conditioner parts partner introduced a segmented and rearranged air conditioner panel assembly process, improving productivity by more than 50%. A partner producing TV frames automated the process, reducing the workforce by more than 50%, and redeployed idle personnel to necessary processes, thereby increasing manufacturing efficiency.

Executive Vice President Wang said, "Securing manufacturing competitiveness of partners is the foundation of LG Electronics' competitiveness," adding, "We will strengthen technical support and collaboration to enhance partners' manufacturing competitiveness for mutual growth."
