Jindo-gun 'Nation's First' Abalone Aquaculture Farm Production Incentive Payment

Payment of 290 Million Won Completed to 277 Fishing Households Before Chuseok Holiday

Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do, paid the nation's first production incentive to abalone farming households to revitalize the local economy ahead of the Chuseok holiday.

According to the county on the 26th, the production incentive was promoted to alleviate the management burden of abalone farming households in the area, who are struggling due to the recent decline in abalone market prices, and to preserve the income of fishing households.

The support target is abalone farming households in the area, who receive a certain amount per unit area of cage facilities.

To support the production incentive for abalone farming households, the county allocated 335 million KRW in the supplementary budget, paid 290 million KRW to 277 households in the first round on the 26th, and plans to pay a second incentive later.

Jindo-gun accounts for 11% of the nation's abalone production, recording 4,100 tons and sales of 144.2 billion KRW last year.

County Governor Kim Hee-su said, "Ahead of the Chuseok holiday, I hope the production incentive will help abalone households facing difficulties due to the decline in abalone market prices and rising fishing expenses such as fuel and labor costs."
