Gangbuk-gu Career Plus Center... Started Operations in July, Scheduled to Open in the Second Half of the Year
Gangbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Soon-hee) announced on the 23rd that they successfully completed a mural painting project at the Career Plus Center (Director Lee Sam-sik) together with the mural painting club ‘Jieum’ from Duksung Women’s University, developmental disability artist Kim Sung-chan, and immigrant artists.
The Gangbuk-gu Career Plus Center, which provides on-site employment training for people with developmental disabilities, is a customized employment counseling and training institution for people with developmental disabilities currently active in Seoul, in collaboration with the Seoul Career Plus Center and Gangdong-gu Career Plus Center.
Since November last year, the district has been preparing preliminary plans for the establishment of the Career Plus Center, which began operations in July this year, and will play various roles to support employment for people with developmental disabilities in Gangbuk-gu going forward.
In particular, the district has the highest ratio of registered persons with disabilities relative to its population in Seoul at 5.87%, and is making great efforts to establish policies for people with disabilities.
Lee Soon-hee, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, stated, “The employment rate for people with developmental disabilities is quite low at 20%, and the most important thing in helping them is to assist them in achieving economic independence.” She added, “The Gangbuk-gu Career Plus Center, which will open in the second half of this year, is a field-oriented employment training institution expected to provide significant support for the employment of people with disabilities in the future.”
